$tumbleUpon – Ever paid for it?

As the months turn into years, Social Media seems to have become synonymous with the Internet. Remember back in the day when you could actually ask someone if they had a website? Today, if you ask someone if they’re online, they’d probably not even know how to answer. Social Media is pretty much the same thing these days. I can’t really think of a company that doesn’t have some social media presence. So in the

Poll Question – Win a Target Gift Card

I’m trying to get a feel for how people view the car buying experience. So if you have a minute, please fill out the following survey. I’ll be giving away a $25 gift card for Target to a random person who fills out the survey. There seems to be a new movement in the auto industry that empowers buyers. With sites like TrueCar that provide great pricing information to sites like Ubokia and Cartelligent where

Facebook Marketplaces: Less Facebook and More Marketplace

I’ve finally come to accept that I may not be a true early adopter. Obviously that is a relative term, and I like to think that I am pretty fast to pick up new stuff faster than most Americans, but when it comes to comparing myself with my peers in this industry, I am a laggard. I have even looked myself in the mirror and said “You are not an early adopter, and that’s OK.”

Ubokia.com – a free car broker?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that buying a car is not fun. Now whether or not you agree with that, I just can’t think of many people talking about how much they enjoy buying a car. On the other hand, I can think of a lot of people that have had awful experiences. From trying to find the right car to haggling with extremely pushy sales people to the mountains

I’m not the only one frustrated with eBay

I just had another painful experience on eBay. This time it involved selling an iPhone. Long story short, I posted my phone then got a scammer who tried to “Buy it Now”. So my listing comes down, eBay charges me their customary 10% fee and I’m left with a buyer in Nigeria. So, I file a claim, which takes FOREVER to get my charges refunded from eBay, and I have to go through the process

Collaborative Consumption

“The term collaborative consumption is used to describe an economic model based on sharing, swapping, bartering, trading or renting access to products as opposed to ownership. Technology and peer communities are enabling these old market behaviours to be reinvented in ways and on a scale never possible before. From enormous marketplaces such as eBay and Craigslist, to emerging sectors such as social lending (Zopa), peer-to-peer travel (CouchSurfing, Airbnb) and car sharing (Zipcar or peer-to-peer RelayRides),

Wanna to Be a Part of Something Great?

Ubokia from Ubokia on Vimeo.   Want to be part of something great? Ubokia.com is putting buyers in control. Imagine if you went to a flea market to buy a wheel barrow. You would have to spend hours to make sure that you saw every wheel barrow for sale, or at least you would have to look at a handful to find the right one. This is what buying on the internet has turned into

Twitter

Although I like to think of myself as an early adopter, I defnitely can’t claim that when it comes to Twitter (and Mac products as well, although I have finally been converted). I finally got serious about Twitter for personal use a while back, and now I wish I had gotten on there sooner. From a marketing perspective, I have always been a strong advocate of connecting to people where they are, and thus I

My First Post

As part of my job, I spend a lot of time thinking. I am the Director of Strategy, so as you can probably imagine, I do a lot of strategizing. This mindset doesn’t turn off when I leave work; in fact, it has taken over nearly every aspect of my life. So I figured I might as well put all this thinking to good use by sharing it with anyone willing to read it. My
